This image is the one which I’ll be using for the front cover of my film magazine. After completing the stages of playing around with the makeup, costume and hair I placed my model against the wall in my hall, I thought the pattern of the wall paper appeared gothic which therefore fitted with the genre of my film. It sets the mood and atmosphere of the image as it creates a sense of enigma; it’s not very clear what the pattern actually is , this is connected to the facial expression my model has as viewers would not know why she looks so angry unless they watched the trailer. The wall paper is also a symbol for the vampire’s anger and confusion; I wanted it to appear almost as though it was her gloomy ora that surround’s her.
The shot I have taken here is a medium close-up as only her shoulders, chest and face can be seen, her costume consists of a very dark black long sleeved t-shirt with a lacy jacket layered over it , although this jacket can not be seen clearly in the image . The red scarf around her neck symbolizes prolepsis as she sucks others blood later on in the storyline.
The second image is the one which I have edited using the Photoshop programme. I firstly decided to adjust the brightness of the image in order for all the features to stand out more, such as the bright whiteness of the teeth, these are made to appear perfect although they are lethal and the most dangerous thing about this vampire girl. The blood red colour of the scarf around her neck symbolizes how she may take someone’s life by sucking the blood from a victim’s neck and she’s used the scarf as a way of covering up her own neck, which is ironic as she is not the victim. This again adds to the confusing and barbaric atmosphere.
The next thing I did was darkened the highlights, this way the colour black stood out. For example her top which makes gives the illusion of her popping out of the wall. Also the black makeup around her eyes which allows the blue colour of her eyes sparkle and appear inviting, this feature along with her teeth make her appear more innocent than she is.
